Abstract Submission Deadline 27 January 2023
Manuscript Submission Deadline 27 May 2023

We are now at a turning point in the 21st century. Industry 4.0 will create new opportunities for construction as well as new challenges. The advancement of new technologies in the construction industry has led to a new concept known as Construction 4.0. With the rapid development of information technology, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and information physical systems, "intelligent construction" has become an important direction in Construction 4.0.

Intelligence of construction equipment is the key foundation for realizing intelligent construction. It includes construction robot, architectural 3D printing technology, health monitoring and fault diagnosis, Mechanical dynamics and intelligent control technology, etc. Solutions such as digitalisation and sustainability in manufacturing are of paramount importance in this field and are typical research areas for this collection.

The goal of this research topic is to highlight advances made in the area of intelligence of construction equipment and accelerating the development of the traditional construction industry toward intelligent construction. Topic is dedicated to bringing together researchers with diverse research backgrounds into a common forum, contributing thoughts to this construction equipment research topic. Works involve the intelligent theory and technology in the design, manufacturing and operating of construction equipment, such as big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital twin.

Areas of particular interest to be covered in this research topic include, but are not limited to:
- The design and operating of construction robot
- Architectural 3D printing technology
- Health monitoring and fault diagnosis in the equipment operating
- Mechanical dynamics of construction equipment
- Intelligent control theory and technology in the construction equipment
- Theory and technology of digital twin
All types of papers are welcome.

Keywords: Construction Equipment, Robot, Architectural 3D Printing, Mechanical Dynamics, Intelligent Construction, Intelligent Control

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
